Development, Testing and Optimization of a Screw Press Oil
A screw press moringa oil expeller was developed and evaluated in terms of oil expression efficiency (OEE), material balance efficiency (MBE) and expression loss (EL). Four different models were fitted to the output variables. Maximum OEE of 81.66% was obtained at moisture content of 11% wet basis, heating temperature of 80 °C, heating time of 30 min and applied pressure of 20 MPa.

solvent, contributes to preserving the oil quality (Soetaredjo et al., 2008; Uquiche et al., 2008). Currently, the screw press is mainly used in oil mills, the use of hydraulic presses is limited to a certain type of raw materials (cocoa, olives). For this reason, the screw press extraction was chosen as a reference method.

A maximum oil recovery of 73.14% was obtained when Jatropha seeds were conditioned to a dry basis (db) moisture level of 9.69% and cooked at 110 degrees C for 10 min. Screw press oil recovery
Experimental validation of the simulation is used to improve oil expeller for Jatropha seed by fabricating the expeller after the analysis of design by ANSYS FLUENT codes. An oil yield in excess of 98%, as compared to a maximum 75% for existing screw expellers, was

Design and Development of an Efficient Screw Press Expeller for Oil Expression from Jatropha Curcas Seeds: A Computational Flow Dynamics Study of Expeller for Performance Analysis Article Jan 2013
Screw presses are exclusively used for extraction of oil from vegetable seeds; having a mechanical assembly where screw shaft is used to press the seeds at high pressures in order to have a reasonable oil yield. Mostly conventional screw presses are used in the commercial and industrial sectors having high O&M costs and hence less life. For this purpose an efficient small scale screw press was
